How many types of nutrients are there?
There are more than around 40 different types of nutrients in our food and they can simply be classified into the following 7 major food groups:
1. Carbohydrates
2. Proteins
3. Fats
4. Vitamins
5. Minerals
6. Fiber
7.Water
The reason these are essential to our body is?
Each of the 7 major groups of nutrients have a different and unique job to do in our bodies...and they are all essential in a balanced diet, because they work together as a team- each one giving an equal contribution to our health and wellness.The main functions of these nutrients can be easily explain by reviewing the following below.
carbohydrates:
Carbohydrates are a major energy source for our bodies, and they come from grains, such as rice, noodles, & even potatoes. Besides, other foods including root vegetables, dairy, fruits, and beans.
Proteins:
Include Meat, seafood, fish, dairy and eggs. dry beans and any bean products are a great sources of protein. Its major functions are building, healing, repairing and maintaining our healthy body tissues.
Fats:
Fats can be found in foods such as meat, dairy products, nuts, seeds, and oils. Fats are also something that bring us a form of energy source. They can prevent heat loss in the extreme and damaging cold weather, and they protect our organs from going into shock. Fats are responsible for making up a huge part of our body cells & helping transport fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D, E and K. Which means this plays a major factor in a nutritional need.
Vitamins:
There are many kinds of vitamins from a plethora of food groups, and they are involved in different body metabolism- including maintaining the health of skin and hair; building bones and all the while releasing and utilizing energy from foods. Isn't it admirable and incredible how these Vitamins work for our bodies? Vitamins can be classified into water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. (That is something to remember.)
Minerals:
Minerals are a group of very essential therefore needed nutrients, which regulate many body functions- such as our fluid balance, muscle contraction, and the transmission of our nerve impulses. Minerals are a providing factor to our systems needs. There are Some mineral structural components of the body, such as calcium in our bones and in our teeth.
Fiber: (dietary fiber)
Dietary fibre is the indigestible part found within the plant. It's used to stabilize our blood sugar, promote gastrointestinal health, and prevent us from having constipation. Dietary fibre can be classified into soluble and insoluble fibre, which is something important to remember.
Water:
Water is the most abundant substance within the human body, and is also an essential nutrient to maintain our health. The major functions of water include regulating our body temperature, producing body fluids, and transportation of nutrients, all the while removing waste products from our bodies.
All of these nutrients work as a football team. They all are needed to score a touch down.
