Directions

  • In a large saucepot, boil 6 quarts of salted water.
  • While water is coming to a boil, heat a large saute pan with olive oil over medium heat. Saute garlic 1 minute until soft. Add the pepper flakes, cook an additional minute. Remove from heat.
  • Cook pasta until al dente, following package directions.
  • Return saute pan to heat. Add shrimp, cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add about ¼ cup of the pasta water to the saute pan, stirring.
  • Add cooked pasta to pot. Season with lemon and add the basil leaves. Cook 30 seconds and toss pasta together and serve.

Angel hair pasta with shrimp is a flavorful and relatively light dish that’s popular for its delicate texture and savory taste. On average, a single serving of this dish (approximately 1 cup) contains around 300 to 400 calories, depending on the ingredients and preparation method. If it's cooked with olive oil, garlic, and a light sauce, the calorie count stays on the lower end. However, adding creamy sauces, butter, or cheese can increase the overall calorie value. To keep it healthy, opt for whole-grain pasta and moderate portion sizes, and consider steaming or grilling the shrimp instead of frying.

πŸ’΅Chef Tips

Red pepper flakes are quite spicy. If you want less heat, add a whole dried red pepper to the oil along with alittle minced garlic and cook them together for 2 or 3 minutes or until the garlic is just turning golden. Carry on as per recipe. Just before serving the pasta, remove it from the pan so that no one bites into it. Got it?!
